Marta Aguiar is an architect and founder of the Museu Experimenta Paisagem and MAG – Marques de Aguiar, an architecture and urbanism studio based in Porto.
Her work spans architecture, urban design, curatorship, and territorial transformation.

In coordinating different projects and partnerships, such as Landscape Together (Creative Europe), she promotes research on territorial development with the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Coimbra, curatorial experimentation with the Chillida Leku Museum, and the creation of community-engaged artworks with the collectives Yokyok and KHBT.

As an instrument of appropriation and transformation of collective places, she leads Cortiçada Art, the experimental art festival of the Museu Experimenta Paisagem (now in its 4th edition). At MAG, she develops research on the legacy of Manuel Marques de Aguiar (Serralves, 2018) and experiments in seminal curatorial practices (A Boda – Ponte de Lima Biennale with the AoC collective; Magmashell and Lowtide – Havana Biennale, 2028).

Marta’s work reflects an expanded vision of architecture, understood as a curatorial gesture and a practice of proximity.

Core Programme

Exhibition

"TIME IS PRESENT. Designing the Common" is a manifesto exhibition that showcases a variety of design initiatives and innovative formats, organised according to the most participatory common factor: our emotions.

Happisodes

Promoted by the Porto Design Biennale, Happisodes are co-design projects between designers, communities, and municipalities that bring to life, in Porto and Matosinhos, the joy of collectively recognising that the present can be reimagined. They are living, inhabited processes where design gives shape to the common.

Publications

Book publishing is a fundamental part of the Porto Design Bienniale, conveying, through the editing and materiality of the books and catalogues, the concept and curation of the projects.

Constellations

The selected projects are independent and autonomous projects regarding curation, financing and production that engage with the theme of this edition.
