With the central theme Being Water: How we flow together and shape each other, the third edition of the Porto Design Biennale aims to bring together national and international voices in a debate on one of the natural elements that is most essential and indispensable to us: Water.
Curated by Fernando Brízio, the event will present a set of exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and publications that aim to be a transdisciplinary laboratory platform dedicated to observation, reflection, creativity, and learning, which will act simultaneously in the visible and invisible, organic and inorganic, and ephemeral spectra of water. The aim is to work continuously to shape more sustainable, equitable, free, and happy futures.
As a guest country, Spain will be highlighted in a programme that works on the close relationship with the territory and industry of Galicia held under the curatorship of David Barro.
In 2023, the Porto Design Biennale presents itself as a unique opportunity to explore the intersection between Design and the challenges of our time. The event is promoted in collaboration between the municipalities of Porto and Matosinhos, with organisation by esad—idea.
