The exhibition Ligações (Connections) was thought out as a collection of objects, having a ubiquitous glass of water as its starting point. Water as matter is the central element here. It helps us find our way through the space and its various contents, with the various stories associated with them. In the film The Swimmer (1968) by Frank Perry, the protagonist Ned Merrill, in order to get home, makes his way through his luxurious neighbourhood in an almost surreal way, diving from pool to pool from neighbours friends, as if they were all connected to form a river. Throughout this long journey, which lasts the length of the film, and in which the water of the various pools is poetically associated with a river, Ned interacts with the various neighbours in different conversations, which entangle the viewer in the story. As in the film, the water in this exhibition has the same purpose of creating links between the visitor and the several contents, in an exhibition where there is no preset route.
