Porto Design Biennale 2021
August 18, 2021
Through the prism of design, the Alter collection offers diversified reflections on the present moment and new ways of being and creating together. Each journal develops one of the themes presented in Alastair Fuad-Luke's curatorial proposal for the Porto Design Biennale 2021.
Pluralistic, stimulating and visually bold, the Alter collection presents an alternative and complementary perspective on the issues raised during PDB21. The collection is curated by Alastair Fuad-Luke and edited by Bianca Elzenbaumer and Fabio Franz (Brave New Alps), António Gorgel Pinto and Paula Reaes Pinto, Paulo Moreira, Cherry-Ann Davis & Nina Paim (Futuress). Throughout the five journals of the Alter_ collection, the artist Beatriz Blasi collaborates with the collective 1234 in the creation of visual narratives that seek to reverse the logic of power inscribed in Google Maps.
